The idea of camping is often associated with summer: tents pitched, swimwear drying in the sun, incredibly long days. But the Winter camping in Sardinia It's a different experience, surprising for many.
The island doesn't just exist from June to September. Its light changes, its rhythm changes, its temperature changes, and precisely for this reason it offers something more essential and personal.
At Nurapolis, we have chosen to stay open all yearWe are among the few campsites in Sardinia to do so, because we believe this stretch of coast makes sense even when it's empty.
Who is thinking of a Winter holiday in SardiniaHowever, it does raise some valid doubts. Let's try to resolve three of them.
Myth 1: It's too cold

The first concern is always this. Winter on the West Coast It's not tropical, obviously, but it's rarely extreme. Temperatures are generally mild, with bright days where the sun warms more than you’d expect. There's wind; we could say it's part of the landscape, and it's probably what makes the air so clear.
The difference is made by the equipment:
- a reliable windbreaker
- Shoes suitable for walking on trails and sand
- A warm layer for the evening
Ours caravan They are simple, with a wooden veranda with a table and chairs, a kitchenette and fridge, essential crockery, comfortable beds with blankets and linen, and enough space to keep everything tidy. Not heated mountain chalets, but functional spaces designed for those who choose to experience real camping.
The cold is there, but it's not the only main feature. With a bit of organisation, it becomes part of the experience, not a problem.
Myth 2: It's all closed
In winter, there are fewer places open compared to August, that's true. The offerings are reduced, some restaurants only operate at weekends, others take a break. But to say that everything is closed isn't correct.
The countries continue to live on. Bars open early in the morning, bakeries churn out hot bread, shops raise their shutters. It's not the tourist version of the area, it's the everyday one.
And then there are the events that really belong to the season: the festivals, the carnivals, traditional festivals in the countryside. It is the period when you discover a perhaps less publicised but deeply rooted calendar.
In addition, there is what never closes: the pine forest, the beaches, the paths, the mountains. In winter, you can decide at the last minute where to go without the anxiety of parking, reservations, or crowds. There's never the feeling that you have to "optimise" every day.
Myth 3: It's boring

Boredom is a matter of expectations. If you associate a holiday with a packed timetable of entertainment, evening events, and activities scheduled by the hour, then winter camping is probably not the most suitable choice.
But if you're looking for something else, the scenario changes. The days are not empty, they are more open. You can set off in the morning for a walk along the coast, explore the surroundings at your leisure, admire the choppy sea. For those who love to photograph, draw or simply observe, this is truly an interesting season.
There is also a very practical aspect: the Smart working in the campsiteThe connection is there, and the silence too. You work for a few hours and then go for a walk in nature. A balance that is perhaps harder to find in summer.
Non è una stagione rumorosa, ma non lo vuole essere. Che sia dinamica o calma sei tu a decidere quello di cui hai bisogno.

If you're thinking of a Winter camping holiday in SardiniaDon't expect a watered-down version of summer. It's a different experience.
Richiede un po’ di adattamento, curiosità e la voglia di rallentare ma offre spazio, silenzio e una relazione più diretta con il territorio.
At Al Nurapolis, we remain open all year round precisely for this reason, because we believe the island deserves to be experienced in different seasons, each with its own character. And perhaps winter is simply the right time to discover a less known side of it.
