Dog on the beach in Sardinia

Camping with your dog: useful tips before setting off

When planning a holiday with the dog, the list of things to check is more or less the same: can i take him? where will he stay? but most importantly, where can he run without any problems?

From us dogs are always welcome. There are those who immediately start exploring the campsite as soon as they arrive, looking for the people most willing to give a caress (and maybe share a biscuit). Others take their time, observe everything calmly and then settle in. Some we have seen arrive as puppies and return summer after summer with their owners. By now we recognise them as soon as they enter the gate, they too have become part of Nurapolis.

Camping, after all, is one of the places where travelling with a dog becomes more natural. You live a lot outdoors, you walk more and the pace is more relaxed. That is why we have collected here some useful information you should know before setting off on a holiday with your dog such as camping rules and dog-friendly beaches in the surroundings where we can be together

Rules for camping with your dog

When you come camping with your pooch, the rules are few and in most cases have a lot to do with common sense. The aim is simple, to get everyone to live together peacefully.

  1. The leash. On a camp site you often meet: in the alleys, near the bar, between pitches. Keeping your dog on a leash helps to avoid sudden encounters with other dogs or people who prefer to keep their distance.
  2. Never leave your dog alone on the pitch. For the well-being of your dog and the peace of mind of the guests, we ask that you do not leave your dog alone. The campsite is a shared space and deserves to be experienced peacefully by all.
  3. Vaccinations and treatment. We ask that dogs be vaccinated and looked after carefully throughout their stay.
  4. Always collect needs. It is a simple but fundamental rule. Keeping camp spaces clean makes living together more pleasant.
  5. Beware of the heat. In summer the sun can be strong, especially in the middle of the day. Make sure your dog always has shade and fresh water.
  6. You can take it with you (almost) anywhere. Your dog can accompany you in all areas of the campsite, the only exceptions being the toilets and the market. But don't worry, outside the toilets you will find a dog shower area and at the entrance to the market always find fresh water and a shady space to leave it for a few minutes.

In the end, it is mostly about mutual respect. With a little care, living together on the camp site becomes easy for everyone.

Dog-friendly beaches near Nurapolis

One of the questions you ask us most often in the summer is "where can I take the dog to the beach? Fortunately, there are several dog-friendly beacheswith dedicated areas where dogs can stay on the beach together with their owners. Here are some of the most convenient to reach:

Dog-friendly area in Is Arenas
Yes, beach nearest is Is Arenas, right in front of the campsite, a long stretch of free sand stretching for about 6 km. Leaving the campsite and going to the right, after about 400 metres, there is an area of about 500 metres dedicated to dogs.

Dog friendly area in San Giovanni di Sinis
A few kilometres from Cabras, a dog zone has been created on the beach of San Giovanni di Sinis. The area is marked and delimited so that it is easy to recognise.

Dog beach in Maimoni
The Maimoni beach also has an area dedicated to dogs. It is one of the most characteristic beaches in the area, with the typical light-coloured quartz of Sinis and a very wide shoreline for long walks.

Porto Suedda
Also in the Cabras area, an area for dogs has been identified in Porto Suedda. The area, less frequented than the other two, is signposted and delimited to allow all bathers to coexist peacefully.

Torregrande
In Torregrande dogs are allowed on the last stretch of beach going towards the marina. It is a convenient solution if you want to take a walk along the seafront promenade and then spend some time on the beach with your dog.

Turas beach in Bosa
In Bosa, dogs are allowed on the last stretch of the Turas beach. The beach is wide and easily accessible, so a good solution if you decide to take a trip out to Bosa with your dog.

Sar Renas in the Marina of Cuglieri
In the marina of Cuglieri, at Sar Renas, there is an area where you can go to the beach with your dog. The shoreline is very long and often less crowded, ideal if you are looking for a quiet place.

Beach rules can change from season to season, so our advice is always the same - when you arrive, just ask at reception. We will help you find the best beach for you and your four-legged friend.
